Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua women’s fullback Atelaite Buna put up a player of the match performance in front of a sellout crowd in Suva as the Super W champs sailed to their third grand-final appearance.

The former Jasper Williams High School student scored three tries as the Drua defeated the Western Force 25-14 in spectacular fashion.

Buna made various line breaks and was dangerous throughout the full 80 minutes with coach Mosese Rauluni pointing out her impact.

“Even though I scored those tries, I’m not solely taking the credit for it because it was a team effort,” she said.

“We came here knowing that we have to win and I thank the girls for sticking together and getting the job done.

“This win is for the supporters, if it weren’t for them, things wouldn’t have turned out this way.”

The humble lass showed speed and agility in the 15 jersey with her family on her mind.

“We are motivated by our why’s, we play for our families, our fans and for everyone here at home.”

Her impact did not go unnoticed with the crowd on their feet everytime she touches the ball.

“Young Buna has stolen the stage in the last couple of games. She’s just so raw in the game, to put up a performance like that in a new position has been really good for her,” coach Rauluni stated.
