Government’s investment and trade promotion agency Investment Fiji and Global Affairs Canada co-hosted a networking reception in Nadi on Wednesday night in honour of the visit by Canada’s Secretary of State for International Development Randeep Sarai.

According to Investment Fiji, the vital part of the engagement was the strong diaspora link between the two countries.

“It was a privilege to welcome members of the Canadian delegation who represent this living bridge, further strengthening our people-to-people and business ties,” Investment Fiji stated.

It stated that the collaboration was significant for Fiji because it created a platform for Canadian investors to discover untapped potential in sustainable development and tourism.

“By facilitating direct engagement with the Canadian delegation, we are helping Fijian businesses find clearer path to North American shores.”

At the event held at Crowne Plaza, Canada’s High Commissioner to Fiji Jennifer Lalonde signalled a firm commitment to exploring new partnerships that delivered real value for Fiji’s development and mutual economic benefits for both countries.

Local entrepreneurs and Nadi-based businesses had the opportunity to pitch ideas and discuss collaborations directly with Canadian officials, fostering an open-door environment that ensured local industries were at the forefront of this growing partnership.
