The post-mortem examination of a police officer found in Lami on Sunday was conducted today, with findings to be submitted to the investigation team.

COMPOL Rusiate Tudravu said the investigation process must be respected amid speculation surrounding the officer’s death.

“We all want answers, and we have an investigation team headed by the Divisional Crime Officer Southern working around the clock, piecing together the circumstances leading up to the officer’s death,” he said.

Commissioner Tudravu dismissed claims circulating on social media that a second officer was missing.

“Speculation and false information will not help. There are claims that a second officer is missing which is not true. The officer was on a day off and reported in for duty on Sunday night, which was known to his superiors,” he said.

He urged members of the public to allow investigators to carry out their work without interference.

“I am urging members of the public to trust the process and allow the investigation team to do their work.”

The Police Commissioner said updates would be provided when there were new developments, stressing the importance of protecting the integrity of the investigation process.
