In an effort to access connectivity, a Starlink Internet and Telecom cloud phone has been installed at Nasau Health Centre in Nalawa, Ra.

Telecom Fiji said this milestone would transform healthcare services for more than 4000 people across 19 villages and 18 settlements.

“Before this installation, Nasau Health Centre had no internet or network connectivity,” stated a statement from the company.

“Staff and community members had to walk 30 minutes uphill just to get a mobile signal.

“Critical emergency calls, medical reports and every day communication were a constant challenge.”

With this successful connection, the health centre could now make emergency calls to Rakiraki Hospital instantly, it could also, send reports efficiently with a reliable connection, provide internet access to visiting community members and allow community health workers to reach the centre via the official Telecom Cloud Call number, the statement read.

“This project was made possible by the dedication of the Nasau medical area community and hospital board members, who led fundraising efforts to bring connectivity to their health centre.

“Their hard work and collective support have paved the way for better healthcare services in the region.”
