THE Fiji Police Force was handed a monetary boost to its Inter-formation Soccer Competition by the tournament’s sponsors Lincoln Refrigeration Pte Ltd and Newworld IGA Fiji.

The handover took place at the Fiji Police Force’s headquarters in Centerpoint, Nasinu on Tuesday where Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu received the cheques from the two sponsors.

Present on behalf of Lincoln Refrigeration was its managing director Praveen Singh and for Newworld IGA, the head of marketing, merchandise and wholesale, Sameer Patel.

Speaking to attendees following the handover, Tudravu said the initiative undertaken by both companies to step forward and assist was a relief for them.

“It’s really hard to support the games or the tournament, a big tournament like this,” Tudravu said.

“We don’t have enough (in our) coffers within the organisation but coming forward to assist us is like a sort of relief.

“It also shows us that our work is recognised, we are recognised by the business people and we are here also in terms of trying to protect the business investors in Fiji.”

The competition takes place at the Four R Electrical, Govind Park starting today and will end this Saturday.

The defending champions are Western Division 2.

Pool A: Western Division 2, Southern Division, Western Division 1, Headquarters.

Pool B: Police Mobile Force, Central Division, Eastern Division, Northern Division.
