TOWER Insurance’s country managers from Tonga, Samoa, American Samoa, and the Cook Islands and team members from New Zealand, including its chief underwriting officer, chief claims officer, customer hubs manager and Learning & Talent management lead converged in Suva this week for its week-long 2025 Pacific Leadership Summit.
“The Tower group operates on a single core platform that enables our teams to collaborate seamlessly to best support customers across our international markets,” Tower’s chief administrative officer, Andrew Hambleton said in a statement.
“With this Pacific-leading technology now firmly embedded across our operations, the summit focused on leadership development, business planning and alignment across all six countries and how best to support a thriving, resilient future in the Pacific.”
The meeting was also an opportunity for the company to officially launch its new Fiji Talent Acceleration Program.
“This program is aimed at high performing staff that we see potential in as future Tower leaders.
“The Pacific Leadership Summit provided the perfect backdrop to launch this program, blending our current leadership team with our aspiring leaders and talent acceleration program participants.
“Employing more than 300 people in Fiji alone, we’re dedicated to identifying and nurturing homegrown talent,” Mr Hambleton said.
The summit was also an opportunity for Tower managers to work on their products and adapt them to Pacific markets.
“In 2022, we introduced My Tower, the first insurance platform in the Pacific that allows people to lodge a claim, get a quote, purchase a policy and view their motor vehicle, house and contents policies all in one simple online portal. “Tower customers can also pay their premiums online,” Mr Hambleton said.
“That same year, we launched Cyclone Response Cover in Fiji, a rapid cash pay-out when a customer is impacted by a high wind speed cyclone event, regardless of damage and without the need for an insurance assessor’s sign off.
“This product is now available in Samoa and Tonga too, and we plan to launch a new parametric rainfall product later this year.”
Tower Insurance began operations in Fiji in 1874 with one agent and has now expanded into a multi branch operation with offices across Fiji and the Pacific.
Last year, it celebrated its 150th anniversary in Fiji with the opening of its new Suva hub, awarded three inaugural Tower Vunilagi Scholarship recipients with a full year’s tuition at the University of the South Pacific and won the Employer of the Year Award at the Fiji Prime Minister’s International Business Awards.
