President of the Soqosoqo Vakamarama iTauklei Adi Finau Tabakaucoro says the installation of the Vunivalu na Tui Kaba – the paramount chief of the Kubuna confederacy – on Bau Island in Tailevu today will bring a positive outlook to the Great Council of Chiefs meeting in May later this year.
“At least now, we can look to the GCC having the assurance that we have installed the paramount chief of Fiji,” Adi Finau said.
“I think this would encourage other chiefly titles that have been vacant for the positions that are still vacant that they will install the chiefs and this would be a great move to when they decide to call the GCC.”
Ratu Epenisa Cakobau will be traditionally installed on the chiefly island today.
