A NEW multimillion dollar industrial zone is being developed at Vakamasisuasua in Labasa, with a plan to establish 30 lots for businesses and industries.
The development, led by local businessman Edwin Chand, is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy, generating millions of dollars and creating numerous job opportunities for the region.
Trade Minister Manoa Kamikamica said this development was a game-changer for Labasa.
“Not only will it provide a modern space for industries to thrive, it will also generate employment opportunities and contribute significantly to the economy,” he said.
Mr Kamikamica said the project was expected to create hundreds of jobs once fully operational, with both skilled and unskilled workers needed in a variety of fields, including construction and technical roles.
“As more industries establish themselves here, we expect the demand for skilled labor to increase, which will be a major benefit for the people of Labasa.”
He said the industrial zone was also expected to attract businesses from other parts of Fiji and even overseas.
“This is an important initiative that will bring much-needed investment into Labasa,” Mr Kamikamica said.
