Indonesian incursions hit

PORT MORESBY – Vanimo-Green MP Belden Namah says there is no control over Indonesian military incursions into the Papua New Guinea side of the border.

He was reacting to reports of a diplomatic row between the two countries over the lowering of the Indonesian flag by PNG soldiers at a settlement near the border. The issue on the border is a very sensitive issue. Our Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and MPs are not sensitive about border issues,he said.

Indonesians have encroached many times into the land border and the sea border of PNG. No Prime Minister, no Foreign Affairs Minister, have come out to defend the sovereignty of PNG.

The naval base Indonesia built in the Western province of PNG, at the mouth of the Torasi River, is in PNG territory.

The current Batas (market) arrangement between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, is in PNG territory. I want to tell the Indonesians that we have to review the common land boundary between Indonesia and PNG.
