More Indo-Fijian girls are now smoking marijuana while in school, said Ministry of Education Divisional Counsellor West Alice Fong.

She revealed this while speaking at the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji Women’s Conference in Lautoka on Saturday.

“Don’t think because 95 per cent of women here are Indians, never my Indian daughter (will do drugs),” Ms Fong said.

“I’ll tell you I have been to schools and I am dealing with Indian girls who are smoking marijuana.

“So, start talking openly to your children and don’t think if I start talking openly, they might go onto it, no.

“Who else will tell them? That’s why I say update yourself, Google and find out the current statistics, what’s happening around the country.”
