THE inaugural Battle of the Netters 2025 (BON2025) was a resounding success, considering the time and resources constraints that the organisers faced.

The competition was held over the weekend at the National Netball Centre in Laucala bringing together 11 associations, the event revived the inter-district championship which had been absent from the national netball calendar for nearly a decade.

Teams from various regions including Taveuni, Savusavu, Labasa, Tavua, Nanukuloa, and Vatukaloko traveled to compete against traditional rivals from Suva, Nadi, and Lautoka.

The Secretary for BON 2025, Lepani Justice Volahiga, expressed gratitude for the generous support of sponsors that made the event possible.

“The inter district netball championships has a very crucial role in national netball as it brings together all the districts and their players to compete and show their skills,” said Volahiga.

“It’s a platform for players to demonstrate and test their skills across the nation.

“A lot of potential was shown during the two-day event and also presented opportunities to work on leading to the BON2026, in terms of netball development, especially for district associations outside the bigger ones.”

He adds in terms of turnout, the BON2025 brought together a total of 645 athletes competing across 5 grades and 2 divisions, along with games officials, coaches, managers, parents, guardians, and supporters, totaling approximately 1000 attendees.
