Ba Golf Club hosted its first Monthly Medal tournament on Sunday, proudly sponsored by top local professional golfer and lawyer, Vikrant Chandra.
The tournament, which attracted golfers from various grades, was marked by competitive spirit and outstanding performances across all divisions. Chandra, a former national number one amateur golfer and now one of Fiji’s leading professionals, showcased his class by claiming the Best Gross title in the professional category with a superb score of 67.
In the overall competition, Dhinesh Narayan took home the Overall Net Winner’s title, while Asish Chand, who also serves as the Ba Golf Club Captain, secured the Overall Gross Winner’s title, capping off an impressive day on the greens.
The winners in the various grades were as follows: A Grade: 1st – Ashwin Sharma, 2nd – Rajen Singh, 3rd – Rohit Chandra. B Grade: 1st – Rajnesh Sharma, 2nd – Jyoti Lal, 3rd – Damon Chen. C Grade: 1st – Ravinesh Chand, 2nd – Sanjay Sharma, 3rd – Sunil Sharma.
In the special prize categories, Asish Chand hit the Longest Drive of the day, while Damon Chen claimed the Nearest to the Pin (NTP) award. Ravinesh Chand secured the 2nd Best Shot of the tournament.
Speaking after the event, Ba Golf Captain Asish Chand acknowledged Chandra’s unwavering support towards the club.
“Mr. Chandra has been one of our biggest supporters over the years. His passion for the game and his commitment to Ba Golf Club are truly commendable. We are grateful for his continuous sponsorship and encouragement,” Chand said.
A lawyer by profession, Vikrant Chandra started his golfing journey at Ba Golf Club at the age of 10 and has gone on to make significant contributions to the sport both on and off the course. Currently serving as the President of the Fiji Professional Golfers Association (FPGA), Chandra has pledged to maintain his sponsorship support for Ba Golf Club in the future.
