Swire Shipping Fijian Drua powerhouse Tevita Ikanivere has been recognised as the top hooker in the 2025 SMARTECH Super Rugby Pacific Team of the Year, capping off a stellar season for the dynamic front-rower.
Ikanivere’s consistent performances and aggressive style of play saw him accumulate 19 points in Player of the Year voting, earning him the No. 2 jersey in the honorary all-star lineup.
This recognition is particularly significant, as the Team of the Year is selected based on votes cast throughout the season by opponents and analysts, marking Ikanivere as one of the most respected players in the competition.
The 24-year-old has been instrumental in anchoring the Fijian Drua scrum and bringing energy around the park with his hard running, bone-rattling tackles, and clinical set-piece execution.
His selection is a proud moment not just for Ikanivere but also for Fijian rugby, as he becomes the first Drua player to be named in the competition’s Team of the Year.
“Selection in this team is a reflection of the respect and admiration these players have earned from their opponents, week in and week out,” said Super Rugby Pacific CEO Jack Mesley.
With the Drua continuing to build a strong foundation in the competition, Ikanivere’s honour stands as a symbol of the team’s rising influence in Super Rugby Pacific.
Highlanders captain Timoci Tavatavanawai and Highlanders wing Kini Naholo were other Fijians among the 15 players.
