Bua Football Club proved their worth on Wednesday after defeating Taveuni 3-1 in their last pool match of the Courts Inter-District Championship for the senior division.
Bua came off to a strong start as they managed to slot in three goals in the first half for a comfortable lead.
The win has booked Bua a slot in the semi-finals on Saturday.
“Extremely proud of the boy’s performance today as we managed to execute all we have been practising throughout this week,” head coach Tetu Ravana said.
“The boys managed to keep and maintain the tempo of the game and were able to score early in the game.”
Ravana said his side was currently taking each game at a time as they prepared for the semi-finals.
“We will have to wait for the remaining games to be played before we can know who we’re playing in the semi-finals.”
Meanwhile, he pointed out that there were a few other areas his side needed to improve on before the semi-finals on Saturday.
“There are a few handling errors that we need to improve on before we run out for the finals.
“We also need to better our defence as you saw for our game today we gave away a lot of opportunities and we didn’t defend strongly in the last 20 minutes of the game.”
He also added that while their win was sweet, they are vying to go all the way to win the tournament for their division.
“We know it will not be easy, but the boys are up for the challenge and I believe they have what it takes to do so.”
