ONE of Fiji’s iconic tourism brands celebrated its achievements in Nadi on Thursday.

Staff members and tourism stakeholders celebrated Blue Lagoon Cruises 70th anniversary on board its iconic cruise ship — the MV Fiji Princess at Port Denarau.

South Sea Cruises chief executive officer Brad Rutherford said the achievement in itself symbolised the contributions to what was true legacy of the tourism industry in Fiji.

“It’s fantastic to have some of the previous management and long serving staff with us to help celebrate 70 years of cruising.

“Some of these staff members have been with Blue Lagoon Cruises for 40 years,” Mr Rutherford said.

“Tonight we help celebrate this iconic brand and I’m proud to share with you a little of its history in order to truly appreciate with a brand and productive have come from … and where it is today.”

Mr Rutherford said the company had undergone various changes over the years and today the Blue Lagoon brand was proudly owned and operated by South Sea Cruises, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Fijian Holdings Ltd.

He told guests at the celebrations that the contribution of Blue Lagoon Cruises along with South Sea Cruises continued to this day and they would continue to deliver exceptional services to their guests.
