THE husband of a member of the Grace Road Church (GRC) who escaped from the organisation last week has refuted claims made by his wife that the organisation was mistreating families.
The man told The Fiji Times that the matter was personal, between him and his wife but the GRC, as an organisation has been dragged into it.
His wife, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that she escaped from True Mart shopping centre in Navua last week, after spending nearly eight years with the church.
The Korean American national said she escaped because she wanted to remove her two children, aged 13 and four, from the organisation and give them a better life with better opportunities.
“When she’s angry she’ll use anything to blame, that’s why she’s blaming the organisation. She’s using me as a scene,” he said.
When asked about his wife’s allegations on the separation of families, he said “separation is normal”.
“This (separation) is normal in life. Sometimes we’re working hard, everyone knows why we’re working hard which is because we (the organisation) are expanding.
“The point is, we’re working hard and then we have unification, or living together. We’re supporting each other.
“The separation is not separation. We have to work. But the kids are very happy, and we can prove everything with pictures. We can play golf, gymnastics, swimming, and tennis. They’re very well educated.”
He said he hoped his wife would reconsider her stance and return.
GRC has refused to respond comment on the claims made and referred all queries to the woman’s husband.
