HUNDREDS of families took advantage of the New Year’s Day public holiday to enjoy a day out with their loved ones at popular picnic spots in Pacific Harbour and along the Coral Coast.
Beaches around the country were packed with people and the Wainiabia shoreline in Deuba was no exception.
The Kenivale and Siga family who were among the crowd said the outing every first day of the year was an annual ritual.
They said the holiday also provided the perfect opportunity for families to enjoy each other’s company before another year of school and work.
