HEART patient Anjana Devi Chand is the 1000th patient to undergo a cardiothoracic procedure at the Aspen Medical Lautoka Hospital.
After suffering a massive heart attack on January 17 at her home in Nadi, Mrs Chand was admitted to the hospital for a two-week treatment where she also underwent a cardiothoracic procedure.
She said she did not expect to be back home after her stay in hospital.
“I lost my father to a heart attack when I was only 11 years old, so when this happened to me, that fear came over me and my mother,” she said.
“I kept thinking that this is what happened my father.”
But with the help of Aspen Medical team and a state-of-the-art cath lab, Mrs Chand was given a new lease of life.
“I feel energised and very happy that I was able to come out of that bad experience.”
Aspen Medical Fiji’s chief executive officer Gavin Whiteside said the company’s vision was to deliver world class cardiac health care.
“We see the tangible proof of that vision brought to life one procedure, one family and one life at a time,” he said.
“This milestone is not just about volume. It is about the value it reflects, the quality of care our teams deliver each and every day.
“Reaching our 1000th cardiac procedure is an achievement that speaks to the heart of who we are, the impact we strive to make and the lives of the patients and communities we serve.”
Aspen Medical founder and executive chairperson Glenn Keys said the cath lab in Lautoka was among the best in the world.
“When you walk in here you could be in any top line hospital in the world and we see the differences each time we come and there is so much more improvements,” Mr Keys said.
