A total of 24 bowlers from Hong Kong will be showcasing their skills against the Nadi Sports Club members today.
The players from Hong Kong who are on their way to tour New Zealand have a short stay in the country and have decided to test the local greens.
Bowls Fiji secretary Abdul Kalim said it would be an ideal for the players to taste international competition early in the season.
Kalim said it would be a good hit out especially for the national training squad players.
“We hope to extend an invitation to the players from Hong Kong for the Sunny West and South Pacific Carnival which will be scheduled later in the year,” he said.
“These bowlers are on their way to tour New Zealand and are in the country for a stopover and have decided to play some matches.
“We are grateful to the Nadi Sports Club for being the hosts. There will be five team games.”
The national trials will be held at the end of this month.
Another trial will be held next month after which the team for the Pacific Games will be announced.
The national triples championship is expected to be the first major event on the national calendar.
