TODAY will be a history making one for Fiji rugby as the Skipper Select XV plays against the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua for the inaugural Sun Bell Battle of Fiji Trophy.

Fans can expect fast-paced rugby, and a lot of Fijian flair on display at Lautoka’s Churchill Park with leading international referee Paul Williams controlling the tempo.

Speaking to The Fiji Times yesterday Fijian Drua Hooker Zuriel Togiatama described the clash as “a win for Fiji”.

“Honestly, I am treating it like any other Super Rugby game,” Togiatama said.

“This is obviously one of the better teams of Fiji.

“For me personally, I am viewing it as a win for Fiji.

“We have got two of Fiji’s best teams, and the premier of top rugby playing tomorrow (today).”

The Battle of Fiji will be the last trial match for the Fijian Drua as they prepare for round one of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition next Saturday.

“Obviously it’s going to be a lot of pride on the line, but I am keen to see what the boys have in store for us as well,” Togiatama added.

“From us we expect a lot of fast paced rugby, a bit of structure, and obviously a lot of physicality and then we want to be able to also express ourselves.

“We do not know what to expect from the other boys.

“But obviously they will bring the same physicality, some flair, some skills and hopefully there will be a lot of enjoyment.”

The match kicks-off at 4:00pm and ticket prices ranging from $5 – Grounds/ $10- Timber, Gold, Silver & Waitui Stands / $15- Concrete Grandstand.
