Day two of the FMF Inter District Championship delivered thrilling football action as teams battled for semi-final spots in Ba.

The AAAK and Easy Kool Air Conditioning Nadi side were left frustrated after a late indirect free-kick goal against Power Volt Suva was disallowed.

With the match tied 1-1, Tuiba Batiratu’s effort appeared to seal a win for Nadi, but the referee ruled the goal out, citing a breach of the rule requiring the ball to move after the first touch on an indirect free-kick.

Both Nadi and Suva remain in contention and will play crucial matches today.

In the second match, Stratum Construction Rewa secured a semi-final berth with a 3-1 win over Vantex Solutions Navua.

Early goalkeeping errors by Navua allowed Patrick Joseph and John Orobulu to score, giving Rewa a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Although Kolinio Sivoki pulled one back for Navua, Orobulu’s second goal sealed the win and ended Navua’s tournament hopes.

Meanwhile, 4R Electric Lautoka faced Extra Supermarket Labasa in a tightly contested match. Labasa was leading by 1-nil in the first spell when this edition went to press.

Hosts RC Manubhai Ba played Partlink Automotive/Star Pools/Manasa Export/Equipment Express Nadroga in the day’s final match.

Today’s schedule promises more excitement with Suva facing Labasa at 2pm, Navua taking on Nadroga at 4pm, Lautoka battling Nadi at 6pm, and Rewa meeting Ba in a highly anticipated clash at 8pm.

The race to the semi-finals is heating up as teams fight to keep their title hopes alive.
