The High Court in Suva yesterday struck out and dismissed lawyer Aman Ravindra-Singh’s constitutional redress application.

The matter was called before Justice Ariam Mutunayagam. Mr Ravindra-Singh filed the action against Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

He claimed the hearing in the proceedings, brought against him by the Prime Minister and Attorney-General, was unfair and filed the action to look at the hearing of the committal proceedings — in which he was eventually convicted of being in contempt of court and handed a 10-month sentence in absentia.

Gul Fatima appeared for the Prime Minister and Attorney-General but there was no appearance on behalf of Mr Ravindra-Singh who had a bench warrant issued against him this week.
