Officers from the Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID) last night continued unwrapping and cataloguing packets of drugs believed to be cocaine seized in Vatia, Tavua.
The drugs, packed in more than 100 sacks, are now being treated as key exhibits.
Fiji Times sources say access to the area where the drugs are being stored at the Ba Police Station is restricted to senior officers and key investigators, with a heavy security perimeter in place around the station.
Fiji Police yesterday confirmed that four South American nationals and two local suspects were arrested during an early morning drug raid in Vatia waters.
The South Americans are carrying passports of Ecuador.
One of the locals arrested is a carrier operator in Ba.
Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu said more than 100 bags containing parcels believed to be cocaine were seized by officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), SOCID and the Western Division Taskforce.
Commissioner Tudravu said the operation was the result of close collaboration between local and foreign law enforcement agencies.
Investigations are continuing.
