A heavy rain warning remains in force for the whole of Fiji group and a strong wind warning is in force for parts of the country.
The Fiji Meteorological Service states there will be periods of rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.
The weather office adds rainfall in the past 24 hours were Nadarivatu 190.5mm, Sigatoka: 86.0mm, Momi: 69.5mm, Vunisea: 62.0mm, Bukuya: 60.0mm and Yaqara: 58. 0.
“Possible impacts of heavy rain include major flooding of low-lying areas, drainage, properties, small streams, Irish crossing and business,” states Fiji Met.
“Flooding on major roads causing significant disruption to traffic flow, essential services and power supply.”
Strong Northwest winds with average wind speeds of 38km/hr to 47km/hr with gusts of up to 74km/hr will be experienced in coastal land areas of the Western and Northern parts of Viti Levu from Sigatoka to Rakiraki, the interior of Ba, Ra, Nadroga/Navosa, Serua/Namosi, Naitasiri provinces, Tailevu North, the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Vatulele, Kadavu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
“Winds gradually easing to moderate to fresh and becoming Southerlies to North Westerlies from the West from later today.”
