The Fiji Meteorological Service has cancelled the heavy rain warning previously in force for the entire Fiji group, signalling an easing of the severe weather conditions.
However, authorities are cautioning that flood risks remain, with a flood warning still in place for low-lying areas near the Tuva River in Nadroga, and the Nawaka and Nadi rivers.
A flash flood warning also remains in force for Viti Levu, while a flash flood alert continues for the rest of the country.
Strong wind warnings are still active for Vatulele, Beqa, southern Lau, Kadavu and nearby islands, with northwesterly winds expected to reach up to 55km/h and gusts of up to 80km/h.
The weather office says a slow-moving trough of low pressure continues to affect the group, bringing periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Conditions are expected to gradually improve, with rain easing to showers from the west later tonight and across the rest of the country by tomorrow, alongside moderating winds and seas.
