A heavy rain warning is now in force for the whole of the country.
According to the Fiji Meteorological Service, a slow-moving trough of low pressure with cloud and rain remains over the country.
At the same time, Category 2 Tropical Cyclone Urmil, currently over Vanuatu, is expected to move southeast and pass to the southwest of Fiji tonight.
On its current track, the system is forecast to direct a strong north-westerly wind flow over the country, bringing active rain bands across much of Fiji.
The forecast for the Fiji group is for occasional to periods of rain, heavy at times, with a few thunderstorms. Meteorologists warn that localised heavy falls could lead to flash flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Possible impacts include flash flooding affecting informal settlements and communities in flood-prone areas, disruption to businesses, and flooding at Irish crossings leading to traffic delays.
Surface flooding is also likely in urban areas with poor drainage, while wet roads and reduced visibility during heavy downpours may increase the risk of road accidents.
Members of the public are urged to remain alert, take necessary precautions, and continue to monitor official weather updates as conditions evolve.
