The Fiji Meteorological Service has upgraded the heavy rain alert to a warning for the entire country as persistent wet weather continues to affect the islands.
A trough of low pressure remains slow-moving over Fiji, bringing periods of rain, heavy at times, and thunderstorms expected to continue until tomorrow.
The latest readings show significant rainfall across the country in the past 24 hours, with Tubenasolo recording 92.5mm, Narayabale 81.5mm, Lautoka 71.5mm, and Nagado 68.5mm.
Authorities warn that the continuous downpour could lead to flash flooding of low-lying areas, informal settlements, and crossings, as well as surface flooding in towns and cities with poor drainage. Motorists are urged to drive with caution due to wet roads and reduced visibility.
