The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi has maintained a heavy rain alert for the Northern Division as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, warning that unstable weather conditions will persist until later Wednesday.
In its 5.30am bulletin today, forecasters said a slow-moving trough of low pressure remains over the Fiji group and is expected to drift eastward gradually. “
Associated cloud and showers are expected to continue affecting the eastern and northern parts of the group till later Wednesday,” the Centre said.
For Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, occasional rain, isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms are expected through tonight, with conditions easing to showers tomorrow.
Eastern Viti Levu — including Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri and parts of Ra — may also experience showers with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms.
