The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a heavy rain alert for parts of the country.
The alert covers the southern and eastern parts of Viti Levu—including Momi, Sigatoka, Korolevu, Serua, Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Naitasiri, the interior of Ra, Rakiraki and Tailevu North—as well as Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
Meteorologists say a trough of low pressure is expected to approach the country from Tuesday, bringing cloud cover, showers, and periods of rain that could last through Wednesday.
The Fiji Met Office has warned that localised heavy rainfalls may cause flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Drivers are also cautioned about reduced visibility on roads due to downpours and thunderstorms.
Authorities are urging residents in affected areas to stay updated with official weather bulletins and to take necessary precautions, particularly those living near rivers or in areas prone to flooding
