The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi has issued a heavy rain alert for the entire Fiji group, warning of the potential for flash flooding and dangerous road conditions.
Fiji Met said a trough of low pressure with associated clouds and rain is expected to begin affecting Fiji from the north and west later tonight, continuing through to Tuesday.
Showers will become more frequent, increasing to occasional rain with isolated thunderstorms over most areas starting tonight.
Localised heavy rainfall may result in flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Poor visibility is expected on roads, making travel hazardous.
