The Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services are calling on road users to prioritise safety following a series of fatal crashes across Fiji.
Minister Ro Filipe Tuisawau said the recent loss of lives, including a seven-month-old child, highlights the urgent need for behavioural change.
“Recent road crashes that have claimed lives… are heartbreaking and unacceptable,” he said.
“I call on all road users to exercise caution, take responsibility, and prioritise the safety and lives of everyone on our roads.”
Mr Tuisawau stressed that road safety is a shared responsibility.
“We must recognise that road safety begins with each individual… the choices we make can mean the difference between life and death,” he said.
He added that increased speeding fines are part of efforts to deter dangerous driving and promote compliance with road rules.
