KOREA International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Fiji Team 2 volunteers successfully concluded its healthy eating education program.
These activities, which ran from August to December 2025 at Korotogo Andhra Sangam Primary School in Sigatoka, focused on promoting the health and sustainable future of students and the local community.
The initiative directly addressed serious public health issues faced by Fijian children and youths.
Team leader, KOICA Fiji Team 2, Ra Hanna said they were grateful to assist the students in reinforcing healthy habits within homes and in school.
“The most rewarding moment wasn’t simply completing the sessions but seeing the pure joy and pride on the students’ faces throughout the entire farm-to-table process, coupled with the commitment of parents to immediately apply those practical tips in their homes,” she said.
“I hope all the activities we initiated won’t be a temporary memory, but a lasting seed that grows deep roots of sustainable health within the Sigatoka community.
“Our efforts may have been a small step, but I truly believe they have become a precious foundation for a brighter, healthier future for all these students.”
She said the team created customised lesson plans and guidebooks for teachers to independently run programs in the future, establishing a clear pathway for continuity after their departure.
“These programs are expected to inspire the school community to take practical action on health and environmental issues, contributing to the sustainable healthy living of students in the Sigatoka area.”
