Harvest of sea cucumbers ceased

Fiji’s Ministry of Fisheries has announced the harvesting of sea cucumbers or beche-de-mer ceased on December 21 last year.

The ministry states processing and export period is only permitted for the 21 approved companies to clear any stock of beche-de-mer in its fully processed or semi-processed form from January 1 to February 29, 2024.

All exports of beche-de-mer or sea cucumbers will cease after February 29, 2024, the ministry said.
