GONE are the days when cosmetic brands only catered to a brim of skin tone and colour. The rise of cosmetic geniuses such as Harlotte have expanded the range for make-up users of every complexion. And in a country of multicultural diversity and a major wedding market to cater for, a shade for anyone and everyone is an important provision.

Founded by renowned Sydney makeup artist, Michelle Crofts, the brand has quickly rose through the ranks for its niche offering.

Smokey eyes, nude lips

“Smokey eyes with nude lips was the most requested look I was tasked with by clients, so I decided to develop an actual make-up collection around this concept,” she shared.

After two years of working closely with an Australian lab to develop a unique range set apart from others, her alluring, cosmetic range was born.

Harlotte’s launch provided a professional assortment of nude lipsticks with smoky-eye products to famished consumers and make-up enthusiasts.

A cult following soon latched on, with demand seeing an expansion to bright lipsticks, eye shadow palettes, foundations and other essentials.

Its signature look includes fresh, dewy skin with highlighted cheeks, and its AfterGlow Foundation has been its biggest seller.

With a dewy finish with staying power, the creamy formula has high moisturising properties, free from parabens, talc and artificial colourants and commands long wear, while remaining gentle to the skin and delivering a healthy, radiant complexion.

Harlotte expands to Fiji

With a loyal following, Harlotte is now entering the Fiji market with a sensual range of cosmetics for Fijian women.

Adding to the excitement, Fijian women have also been honoured with a new cosmetic specified to local hues.

New cosmetics for Fijians

“In the last two months, we have had our lab formulate a new foundation colour to match the skin and tone of the beautiful, local Fijian girls,” Ms Crofts revealed.

It’s a desirable solution for consumers who have had to combine varying hues of brown for a natural-looking shade, instead of opting for foundations a shade darker or lighter than their actual skin pigment.

Harlotte’s new foundation will be launched next month, and many will no doubt appreciate the availability and versatility of an international name to counters, kits and clutches around the country.

Beautifully-cased palettes of eye shadow, foundations, lipsticks, glosses, mascaras and other signature pieces leave faces glowing in its finishing touches, after an effortless few strokes, pats and dabs.

“We adore the gorgeous skin tones of the local Fijian girls, and cannot wait to enhance their beautiful features,” Ms Crofts added.

Her A-team had the opportunity to work with local models as make-up sponsors of the Pacific Runway Show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Australia’s premier fashion event.

Harlotte teams up with FJFW

The collaboration has now resulted in Harlotte also being make-up sponsors at Fiji Fashion Week (FJFW), the South Pacific’s most eminent fashion affair.

“We look forward to watching the fashion industry in Fiji grow along with our line of cosmetics,” Ms Crofts noted.

FJFW managing director, Ellen Whippy-Knight, knows all too well about the staying power of cosmetics at fashion shows.

“Make-up artists are a critical part of any fashion show and they are just as important as the designers and stylists.”

“Their component is to complete the desired look of the designer in terms of the look of the models to complement the designer’s garments.”

The Harlotte team is back in the lab, cooking up nine more gorgeous shades to add to its Liquid Lips range, which only launched four months ago with eight tones.

So keep a look out for Harlotte. Coming to a face near you.
