Former Deputy Prime Minister, and leader of the National Federation Party (NFP) Harish Sharma is still recognised as a notable figure in Fiji’s colourful political scene.
And at 92 years of age, Mr Sharma released a memoir titled Road to Parliament: A Glimpse into the Life of Hon. Harish C. Sharma in Suva on Thursday.
Speaking at the launch, Finance Minister and present NFP leader Professor Biman Prasad said Mr Sharma had worked with or served under leaders such as NFP founder A.D. Patel, S.M. Koya and Justice Jai Ram Reddy.
“To almost reach 90 years of age and start writing memoirs is nothing short of a miracle,” Prof Prasad said.
“The Road to Parliament: A Glimpse into the Life of Hon. Harish C. Sharma is the work of such a person. A man of humility, kindness, decency, absolute integrity, and honesty.”
In response to the turnout, Mr Sharma offered a few words of advice to the younger generation and urged them all to have a goal and work towards it.
He also shared excerpts from his book which detailed the challenges he faced in life.
Stalwarts of NFP were also at the launch.
