DIWALI is a celebration of the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, says Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

In an interview, he said the celebration served as a reminder for the nation to focus on these things.

“We are looking forward to Diwali and we wish all our brothers and sisters a very happy Diwali,” he said.

“It reiterates the message of light over darkness and good over evil.

“And let’s focus on those as we move forward as one nation.”

Newly appointed People’s Alliance Party president Ratu Josefa Dimuri reiterated the Prime Minister’s message, adding Diwali was a celebration of not only lights but sharing with others the victory of good over evil.

Speaking at the party’s annual general meeting on Saturday at the National Gymnasium in Suva, Mr Dimuri urged members to celebrate with our Hindu community.

“Diwali is coming up, and let’s celebrate with them as this is a multi-racial, multi-cultural party for one nation — the nation of Fiji,” he said.
