Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro has urged the Queen Victoria School community not to take school-related issues into the public domain, calling instead for concerns to be addressed professionally within the school environment.
Speaking at the school’s prefects’ induction ceremony yesterday, Mr Radrodro said matters affecting schools should be managed through established internal processes, grounded in dialogue, mutual respect and proper channels.
“School issues must be dealt with professionally within the school,” he said.
“When we respect processes and each other, we protect the dignity and good name of the institution.”
The Minister reminded students, staff and the wider school community that unity and responsibility are essential to maintaining Queen Victoria School’s standards and reputation.
“This is about dignity and respect for one another,” he said.
“Respect your fellow students, your teachers and your parents. Put readiness and responsibility above self-interest.”
Mr Radrodro cautioned against allowing political agendas or social media commentary to fuel division within school communities.
“We must avoid political motives and social media narratives that bring about disunity,” he said.
“Public disputes undermine trust and distract from what truly matters — students’ learning and development.”
He urged prefects to play an active role in fostering communication and problem-solving within the school, adding that strong leadership at student level helps ensure issues are resolved constructively.
Mr Radrodro said Queen Victoria School’s legacy had been built on discipline, respect and unity, and called on the entire school community to uphold those principles going forward.
