With eight days left until the fight, Ubayd Haider (formerly known as Nathan Singh) is eagerly anticipating his upcoming bout against Saimoni Ratu as an opportunity to shine without any setbacks, particularly for his hometown.

The two fighters are set to compete in the 61kg category for the vacant lightweight title of Fiji at the South Pacific Boxing Promotion event, Rumble in Labasa.

Despite facing numerous challenges during his training, Haider remains steadfast in his commitment to giving his all in the ring.

“There’s been lots of setbacks in training, but we will mention the setbacks after the fight, despite the setbacks we are coming to fight,” said Haider.

“The warrior in me and love for the sport can never die and I’m looking forward to it.”

Haider is confident that the fight will be a thriller, advising boxing fans and spectators not to take their eyes off the action.

“It’s gonna be a cracker fight and I will advise the boxing fans and spectators to not blink. I’ve faced both Krishnil Mudaliar and Saimoni Ratu in the ring. Mudaliar is the stronger fighter, but Ratu got lucky in their last fight. I believe the stoppage was premature,” he said.

“In our recent sparring session, I dominated Ratu, knocking him down several times. I predict an exciting start to the match.

Haider is excited to showcase his talent in his hometown of Labasa, and eagerly anticipates meeting the local fans and putting on a show for them.
