The Gymnastics Federation of Fiji successfully hosted the Aerobic Gymnastics Showcase at the Northern Club in Lautoka last weekend.
The event brought together 22 talented gymnasts from two clubs Flight Club (Lautoka) and Aero Gym Fiji (Suva) as part of their preparation for the upcoming National Clubs Carnival in Gold Coast, Australia, this September.
Board Director of the Gymnastics Federation of Fiji, Maria Alvarado, said the showcase featured athletes competing across multiple levels, including Levels 3, 4, and 5, as well as Youth International and Senior International divisions.
“The crowd was introduced to Lauren Pilla, Fiji’s new Youth International athlete who will represent the country at the Suzuki World Cup next year,” Alvarado said.
She also highlighted Senior International athlete Robyn Eastgate’s captivating performance, which was inspired by her recent routine at the Suzuki World Cup.
The event was attended by special guests Coach Deborah Greenbaum Australian National Coach for Youth and Junior Aerobic Gymnastics and the highest-level FIG Brevet Judge in Australia and her mother, Pearl Rozenberg, the Australian Judging Coordinator and International Brevet Judge.
Both provided athletes with private, detailed feedback to help them refine their routines ahead of the national competition.
Alvarado acknowledged the support of sponsors.
“Punjas, led by Ms. Rachelle Corpin, generously sponsored gift hampers for athletes, coaches, and judges. We are also grateful to the Northern Club for graciously hosting the event for the second year in a row.”
She added that the showcase was an important stepping stone for Fiji’s aerobic gymnasts as they build confidence and enhance their skills in preparation for the international stage.
