EVEN though the Christian Mission Fellowship (CMF) College competes in this year’s Coca-Cola Games with just 10 athletes, the team’s purpose and drive propels them forth to greater heights and a profound vision.

The school’s 10 athletes are competing in a myriad of track and field events, with the Waqatabu twins Josephine and Regina scooping a bronze and gold medal on Thursday in the junior girls high jump event.

All 10 competed in the high jump, long jump, discus, shot put and on the tracks, the 100m, 200m and 1500m races.

Head coach Fereti Inoke explained their progress onward into this year’s Games has been fueled by a mission to succeed holistically, with their school chaplain being a guiding figure for the athletes to look towards.

“In some of the highs and lows they’ve gone through, I’d like to thank the chaplain for always being there and helping out spiritually, which is something I see that all kids need,” Inoke said.

The athletes were blessed in a church service last Sunday, one of the final forms of finishing touches before they set out for the Games this week.
