A TEAM of talented artists and performers from Jiangsu Province in China are holding special lessons for students of Yat Sen Primary School in Suva.

The school’s head of language department, Sally Sang, said the group would be teaching the students Chinese choreography, martial arts, singing, reading and other artistic work.

“We want to stimulate our children’s learning and that is to learn the Chinese language and culture,” she said.

“This is why we invited them here to teach our children so that they can come to school after the exams instead of staying home for nothing.”

Ms Sang said the students included students from Year 1 to Year 8 and also kindergarten.

She said this was part of the extracurricular activities that the school had organised for the students in order to keep them in school.

She also said that students would be encouraged to showcase their talents and culture during the week-long event.

More than 180 students were part of yesterday’s program.
