MORE than 40 young players attended the Fiji U17 Futsal trials at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba today, as preparations continue for the upcoming Olympic Youth Festival.
The trials featured 30 boys and 10 girls, highlighting strong interest in futsal among youth. A standout was a female player who travelled from Australia to participate, impressing coaches with her skill and dedication.
Assistant coach Raj Kumar praised the turnout and quality of play.
“There is a lot of raw talent, especially among the girls, and it’s encouraging to see players coming from as far as Australia to be part of this programme,” he said.
Kumar added that competition will intensify at the main trials on February 20 in Suva, where the final squad for the festival will be selected.
