BA’s Govind Park has not been spared by Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston with major damage to facilities over the weekend.
The roofs of the two pavilions had been blown away during the height of the cyclone on Saturday.
Fiji Football Association Ba academy manager Rajendra Kant Sharma said the park had suffered massive destruction.
“Both the roofs of the pavilion have been blown away and by looking at the damage it is massive,” he said.
“The ticket booths have also been damaged and the roofs were about to be blown away.
“Looking at the situation at the moment it will cost a lot of money to repair the facilities.”
Sharma said Fiji FA had been renting the property for some time and that the association would work with the Ba Town Council to repair the damaged facilities.
“By looking at the things (damage) it could take up four to five months to repair the facilities,” he added.
“There were no damage to the pitch.
“The matches cannot be hosted at the venue because of the occupational health and safety policy. There is some debris attached to the rafters as well.”
The ground was used by Ba FA team for their home matches in the Vodafone Premier League competition and Fiji FA sanctioned tournaments.
