Stability instilled in Fijians by the Coalition Government has become evident in the streets with a protest march happening for the first time after 16 years.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has also assured that the Coalition Government was committed to allowing all Fijians their freedom and rights to express their views freely.
He said this at The Peoples Alliance party (PAP) annual general meeting (AGM) yesterday in Suva telling more than 300 attendants that stability has contributed to building up Fiji.
The stability in the Coalition, he added was important as also evident in the 2023-2024 National Budget announcement and the various laws that have been brought in to date.
“We thank the National Federation Party (NFP) and Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) for their accomplishments,” Mr Rabuka said.
“We congratulate the Minister for Finance from NFP for the budget that was announced in July.
“And I’d like to commend them for their work in the constructions, in the deliberations and passage of the various laws brought in to date.
“We have sowed the seed of growth that will see us make a positive growth in our economy this year. And we continued growth, commitment, and stability.”
He said Government was committed to letting the people of Fiji express their views.
“Stability is very important in our Coalition,” he said.
“Stability in our streets is very important we showed that day, for the first time in over 16 years people were free to demonstrate.
“And it was well controlled, the people themselves controlled themselves well. That is new and we look at it and compare it with what we had seen in the last 16 years.
“And we will listen and we will continue to be the Government of the people, for the people, by the people.”
