The Government has made it clear that Miss Fiji 2025, Dr Peggy Ravusiro, is expected to represent Fiji at the Miss Pacific Island Pageant 2026, following a Cabinet decision tied to public funding for the two events.
Acting Prime Minister and Acting Minister for Local Government Filimoni Vosarogo said Cabinet had approved $198,000 in government funding for the Miss Fiji Pageant 2025 and the Miss Pacific Island Pageant 2026, under a Service Agreement signed on December 3, 2025.
“In addition to funding support, Cabinet had agreed that the winner of the Miss Fiji Pageant will represent Fiji in the Miss Pacific Island Pageant,” Mr Vosarogo said.
He confirmed that the Miss Fiji Pageant had been completed, resulting in the crowning of Peggy Ravusiro, and stressed that organisers are expected to respect Cabinet’s decision.
“It needs to be understood that when Cabinet makes a decision on a matter, the expectation that such decision will be respected must follow,” Mr Vosarogo said.
“All processes, logistics, terms and arrangements, contractual or otherwise, must align to the decision.”
He said government intervention was necessary because public funds were involved.
“This is not just any decision. It is the decision of the apex body of decision-making of the Government,” he said.
“As public funds are involved, it is critical that public confidence is maintained.”
Mr Vosarogo said Fiji is preparing to host the Miss Pacific Island Pageant 2026, seven years after last hosting the regional event, and that clarity on representation is essential to ensure the success and credibility of the pageant.
“The nation looks forward to hosting the Miss Pacific Island Pageant in 2026 and welcoming our Pacific sisters to Fiji once again,” he said.
