Government vacancies

I WAS shocked to learn that a friend of mine had attended an interview where some senior officers of one particular ministry informed her that it was “hopeless applying for the post since it is just a renewal of contracts”, and it was a mere formality.

I believe it shows that government funds are unnecessarily been used to advertise posts which have already been filled.

She was told by a senior officer that the post she was applying for was already taken and it was just a renewal of contract.

She was told there was no chance for outsiders to take up the post.

I believe this is unethical and being a senior officer, she spoke like she did not care about the applicants that came for the interview that day.

Why advertise the post if the management of the ministry are just renewing contracts?

I believe vacant posts that are advertised with the letter “R” beside the post means the person who is currently holding it will take the post.

I believe management must plan before advertising, to avoid utilising funds unnecessarily and not to waste people’s money and time in applying for the post.

Maybe this is a new system, but I believe it makes people look small, funny and it is senseless applying for a post where the post holder will take back his or her post.
