Government, judiciary presents i-reguregu for late Speaker

PRESIDENT Jioji Konrote led a government delegation to present their i-reguregu to the late Speaker of Parliament Dr Jiko Luveni at her residence today.

The delegation included the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, former President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau and members of cabinet.

Chief Justice Anthony Gates and members of the Judiciary also presented their i-reguregu which was followed by members of the diplomatic corp.

The late Speaker is understood to have passed last week at the age of 72 after a short illness.

Dr Jiko, who hails from Nukuni, Ono-i-Lau is survived by her husband, five children and seven grandchildren.

She will be laid to rest tomorrow.
