Gounder back in snooker

FORMER football administrator and national rep Navneeda Gounder will be making a comeback on the snooker scene during the Coastal Rentals Nadi Open Championship this weekend.

Gounder had keen interest in the cue sport, but left because of administrative duties as president of the Nadi Football Association.

Nadi Club sports chairman Ram Khelawan said there were some new players who had registered for the tournament.

Khelawan said Coastal Rentals had given $500 to revive the sport at the club

“Players from Suva will also be participating,” he said.

“Savati Natoga from Tavua will be playing in his first major tournament. He is an upcoming player with good potting skills who has participated in small events before.”

The Billiards and Snooker Association of Fiji will host the National B Grade Rankings Championship at the Lautoka Club next weekend. The championship will be sponsored by Ray’s Red Apron Butchery Ltd. A total of $500 will be paid out to the top four players. Nitesh Chand, Ravi Narayan and Rimal Narayan have been named on the referee’s panel.
