George Bose’s finishing ability, Nacani Boginisoko’s physical dominance in the forwards and Vuiviwa Naduvalo’s attacking threat were among the key factors behind the Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s 7s team’s impressive opening-day performances at the HSBC SVNS World Championship in Valladolid.

Bose, the Navosa native deployed at rover, proved a constant danger whenever Fiji moved the ball wide.

The midfield playmaker combined vision, pace and support play to devastating effect, crossing for important tries against France and the United States.

Beyond his scoring exploits, Bose played a crucial role linking Fiji’s forwards and backs, identifying space and creating opportunities for teammates around him.

In the forwards, Kadavu strongman Boginisoko was at the centre of Fiji’s physical dominance.

Operating at prop and hooker, he carried strongly into contact, won crucial collisions and repeatedly kept attacking movements alive through his offloading game.

His ability to attract defenders created space out wide and allowed Fiji’s dangerous runners to exploit mismatches on the edges.

On the wing, Naduvalo provided the finishing touch.

The Nadroga speedster stretched opposition defences throughout the day with his pace and powerful running.

Whether chasing kicks, finishing overlaps or turning defence into attack, Naduvalo consistently put pressure on opposition teams and was particularly influential in Fiji’s opening victory against France.

The trio’s performances highlighted the balance within head coach Osea Kolinisau’s side, with the forwards providing the platform and the backs capitalising on opportunities.

As the tournament progresses, Fiji will be hoping its key performers can continue the form that helped secure a commanding start to its world championship campaign.
