Golfers shine in Ba

Mahendra Gopal and Asish Chand were the top performers at the Diwali Open Golf Tournament held over the weekend at the Ba Golf Club.

The event was sponsored by Anita Persaud and Tiffany in memory of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gopal.

Gopal claimed the Overall Nett title with an impressive score of 63, while Chand took home the Overall Gross title with a round of 74.

Raven Kumar finished as the Gross Runner-up on 77, and Yash Kumar claimed the Nett Runner-up spot, also with a score of 63.

In the A Grade division, Ashwin Sharma came out on top with a score of 74, followed by Dinesh Narayan on 75.

Rohit Chandra and Kavitesh Sharma both carded 76, placing third and fourth respectively, while Rajen Singh finished fifth with 77.

The B Grade competition saw Damon Chen take the lead with a net 70. He was followed by Namal Kishar and Abdul Khan, both on 71, while Eperama Bola (72) and Adeel Khan (73) rounded up the top five.

In the C Grade, Harshil Sharma secured first place with 71, edging Amitesh Maharaj (71) on countback. Moshim Khan finished third on 72, and Pradeep Chandra was fourth with 76.

For the novelty prizes, Joeli Dakunimata won Nearest to the Pin on Hole 3/12 and Mahendra Gopal on Hole 7/16. Second Best Shot winners were Rohit Chandra (Hole 8/17) and Chandar Shekhar (Hole 9/18). The Longest Drive awards went to Rohit Chandra (Hole 4/13) and Asish Chand (Hole 9/18).

In the ladies category, Jenny Sharma took out the Ladies Best Gross with an excellent score of 67.

Special awards went to Josese Wara (Best Dressed), Brendan Daniel (Hardest Worker), Bobby Reddy (Guest Prize), Sailesh Kumar (Most Consistent Golfer), Joeli Dakunimata (Tough Day at the Office), and Chandra Shekar (Best Barman on the Course).

Meanwhile, the Two- Men Ambrose event on Saturday, also sponsored by Anita Persaud and Tiffany in memory of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gopal, saw Anaya Sanvi and Asish Chand take out first place. Christopher Daniel and Damon Chen finished second, followed by Mahendra Gopal and Rohit Chandra in third, Bobby Reddy and Chandra Shekar in fourth, and Sailesh Kumar and Yash Kumar rounding out the top five.

Other top finishers included Rajen Singh and Namal Kishar (6th), Joe Drauna and Shelvin Chand (7th), Joeli Dakunimata and Dinesh Narayan (8th), Amitesh Sharma and Harshil Sharma (9th), Pradeep Chandra and Moshim Khan (10th), Josese Wara and Bola (11th), and Melvin Chand and Saki (12th).

In the Ambrose novelty events, Joeli Dakunimata won Nearest to the Pin on Hole 3/12, while Namal Kishar took it on Hole 7/16. Second Best Shot awards went to E. Bola (Hole 8/17) and Asish Chand (Hole 9/18).

The Longest Drive prizes went to Josese Wara on Hole 4/13 and Rohit Chandra on Hole 9/18.
